Café & Restaurant Re-Opening

Design of the coffee house concept at Schwanenmarkt

Since its founding in 1932, Konditorei Heinemann has stood for the finest chocolate and confectionery products and, in addition to its product range, is also known for its cafés and restaurants. For the redesign of the café in Krefeld, familiar elements were taken up, but at the same time interpreted in a modern way.

The total of 256 m² of gastronomy space on the first floor can accommodate 130 guests. In order to give the space more structure and create seating areas with privacy, a separate room reminiscent of a conservatory was integrated through glazed walls. Fabric upholstery by Wiener Werkstätten, Josef Hoffmann armchairs and palm wallpaper provide the typical Heinemann look. The benches in the “winter garden” feature floral velvet by French designer Christian Lacroix. The satin-finished white Heinemann coats of arms on the glass partitions refer to the almost 90-year tradition. Oak parquet was chosen for the floor design, and a muted green was chosen as the all-round wall finish, which also matches the iconic Heinemann green shade. Attached mirrors on individual wall sections and hand-blown wall lights create a pleasant atmosphere.
