Newly opened fan shop for F95: The heart of Fortuna Düsseldorf is beating in the Old Town again
125 years of Fortuna Düsseldorf! There couldn’t have been a better occasion for the club to re-open its newly designed fan shop. On Tuesday, 5 May, the branch on Burgplatz opened its doors for fans and visitors. The design for the store – with 110 square meters now three times as big as before – was developed by the Düsseldorf-based architectural office Schwitzke & Partner
When exceptional times, as we are experiencing them right now, even ban the home team’s matches from the fans’ lives – especially then you have to celebrate the parties as they come! Within six weeks, the Fortuna fan shop located in the Old Town of Düsseldorf was reconstructed and generously expanded from 35 to 110 square meters in order to give this very special anniversary gift to the fans as a place for their passion for soccer.
After the conversion, the heart of Fortuna is now beating again in the middle of the Old Town: The new design by Schwitzke & Partner turns the location into a venue for both true fans as well as international visitors. The fan shop now conveys the league club’s vivid and traditional identity as well as Düsseldorf as the hometown with all its rough edges.

“The re-opening of the fan shop means an important mile stone to us. And the result is really worth it!”
The store provides the entire product range of fan merchandise as well as the opportunity to purchase tickets in the future. Therefore, the architects developed an individual “Fortuna Büdchen” for the fan shop, as a tribute to the legendary pump room at the bank of the Rhine. If required, the Büdchen expands the sales area to five cash desks in total instead of three, and enables a smooth service at peak times. Further the red-framed area serves for the presentation of highlight products and special collections. From now on, Fortuna fans can also get the purchased shirts flocked on-site with their favorite player’s name or the sleeve emblem.
Beside the sales area, also the shop’s facade was upgraded: The outdated blinds on both entries were exchanged by modern, extensive signs that now provide an optimized long-distance effect and speak to fans as well as to tourists even from far away.
