Another Cotton Lab opens flagship store in Düsseldorf – store concept as a stylish community meeting place
Düsseldorf, April 2025
With Another Cotton Lab’s first flagship store in Düsseldorf, we, as architects, worked with the client to design the bold step of a digital brand into the world of brick-and-mortar retail. Our goal was to create a space that brings the brand to life, strengthens the community, and functions as a cultural meeting place.
Known for its “Sunday Running Club” shirts and vibrant community, Another Cotton Lab makes a strong statement with this store. Spanning approximately 120 square meters, the store’s design combines vintage elements, contemporary architecture, and high-quality materials to create a warm, inspiring atmosphere—a space reminiscent of a private library or an elegant living room.
Material and color concept:
The design concept is based on exciting contrasts:
- dark wood with the feel of a classic library,
- a cloud-like, light blue counter as the visual center,
- flanking columns in the same color tone, combining tradition and modernity.
Warm wood tones meet cool marble, fine leather contrasts with raw concrete. A calm color palette of wood, cream, and gray forms the foundation, while targeted accents of light blue and earthy textiles provide highlights.
Special features in store design
The heart of the flagship store is the light blue counter with its iconic columns. Atmospheric lighting showcases both products and architectural details. The visual merchandising follows a minimalist approach: a few curated collections and generous open spaces emphasize exclusivity and allow the architecture to shine.
Architectural challenges
A key challenge was integrating the existing columns. By deliberately incorporating them into the central design element, we were able to not only integrate them harmoniously into the spatial concept, but also develop them into an iconic trademark of the store.
Conclusion
The Another Cotton Lab Store in Düsseldorf demonstrates how innovative retail design successfully integrates digital brands into the analog world. The result is a flagship store that not only showcases fashion but also serves as a cultural hub that combines design, art, music, and community.
