Heinemann café-restaurant in Krefeld shines in a new look
Schwitzke & Partner conceives the coffee house design in Schwanenmarkt
Since its founding in 1932, Konditorei Heinemann has stood for the finest chocolate and confectionery products and, in addition to its product range, is also known above all for its cafés and restaurants. For the conversion of the café in Krefeld, familiar elements were taken up, but at the same time interpreted in a modern way.
The total of 256 m² of restaurant space on the second floor can accommodate 130 guests. To give the space more structure and create seating areas with privacy, glazed walls were used to integrate a separate room reminiscent of a conservatory. Fabric upholstery by Wiener Werkstätten, Josef Hoffmann armchairs and palm wallpaper provide the typical Heinemann look. The benches in the “winter garden” feature floral velvet by French designer Christian Lacroix. The satin white Heinemann coats of arms on the glass partitions refer to the almost 90-year tradition. Oak parquet flooring was chosen for the floor design, and a muted green was chosen as the surrounding wall finish, which also matches the iconic Heinemann green hue. Attached mirrors on individual wall sections and hand-blown sconces create a pleasant atmosphere.
