Modernization of a retirement home in Vienna

In just seven days, Schwitzke Project was able to redesign the public areas of the Downtown Residence Josefstadt in Vienna – during ongoing operations and with special attention to age-appropriate design.
Our Munich office modernized central common areas, including the lobby, wellness and fitness areas, and common and creative spaces. The goal was to create a safe, accessible, and homely environment that combines comfort and aesthetics.
Particular attention was paid to the selection of furniture suitable for seniors: stable, tip-proof seating with rounded corners and a well-thought-out spatial concept that consistently avoids potential tripping hazards.
The once austere lobby has been transformed into an inviting lounge area with a fireplace, modern lighting, and plenty of greenery. In the life coaching area, protected zones with comfortable seating provide privacy and tranquility. The newly designed massage room, the accessible yoga and fitness room with senior-friendly equipment, and a stylish beauty salon also offer residents a better quality of life. A workshop for creative and craft activities complements the facilities.
Stylish and well thought out down to the last detail: that is exactly what we mean by modern, contemporary and age-appropriate living.
