Design, planning and complete fit-out of restaurant 'Hulala' in Düsseldorf

For this restaurant project, we took on the design, planning and our sister company, Schwitzke Project (linked), the complete fit-out. This synergistic partnership allowed us to seamlessly translate the owner's visionary design idea to the 350 square metre store space.

Our architectural challenge was to transform Hulala into a place with a holiday atmosphere. The result of our store design represents the harmonious fusion of the seemingly contradictory elements of "naturalness" and "fast food".

The open wooden façade with inviting awnings attracts passers-by, while pastel terracotta and apricot tones create a warm atmosphere as you enter the space. The design concept incorporates cleverly placed plants and flowers that emphasise freshness, lightness and naturalness, while carefully selected accessories are reminiscent of iconic surf spots such as Malibu or Hawaii.

The furnishings rely on solid wood benches and oak tables, which, in combination with oversized, space-defining raffia lamps, create an inviting and cosy environment. One outstanding element is the terrazzo bench with apricot-coloured leather cushions, which sets a striking accent and underlines the overall effect of the restaurant. Order terminals were also integrated to allow guests to order personalised dishes.
